Christingle & Toy Service

Sunday, 28th November 2021, marked the beginning of Advent in the Church’s year; counting down the days to Christmas and the birth of Jesus in the stable.

Our service was a very informal ‘café style’ with tea, coffee and pastries enjoyed during the service. We sang seasonal songs, even the first carol of the season! Each member of the congregation made a ‘Christingle’, and Anne, our Lay Minister, told us the significance of each component part. You can follow the link to learn about a ‘Christingle’ and even make one of your own. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/christmas/Christingle.aspx

The Christingle service is spearheaded by the Children’s Society, who work to bring hope and happiness to young people when it's threatened by abuse, exploitation and neglect. Our cash collection during the service will go to support the work of the Children’s Society.

Our service was also a ‘Toy Service’ - new toys brought to Church were taken to the Salvation Army in Colchester who will distribute them to families in need this Christmas, so

every child can receive a visit from Santa.
