Operation Churchyard – Phase 3

A big ‘thank you’ to all our volunteers who turned out again to tackle the brambles and hedging that had encroached upon the churchyard. This session was a race against time to complete the cutting back by the end of February.

With a lot of hard work and willing hands, phase three is complete! The birds now have the remaining hedgerows and trees in which to build their nests for this year, undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of busy power tools!

However, our efforts are not finished! There is still a lot of ‘groundwork’ to do - removing roots, preparing the ground for the seeding of grass and general tidying.

Come the autumn, there are plans to plant fruit trees and copious bulbs to adorn

the area and provide a tranquil spot to sit and rest awhile.

Our next session is Saturday 2nd April – everyone is welcome to help, enjoy the company and camaraderie, and partake of refreshments!
