The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee At Great Wigborough

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

The Community Hub was transformed for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with bunting, balloons and flags! The tables were laid down the centre of the aisle, street party style, and the doors were opened for the celebration.

We welcomed around fifty people to the afternoon celebration. There were cakes, sandwiches, sausage rolls and even the official Jubilee pudding of trifle, as seen on the telly! A big thank you to all those who contributed to the food. Everyone was in party mode and there was a buzz of conversation as people caught up with neighbours or met neighbours they hadn’t seen before.

The children enjoyed a royal themed Teddy Bear Hunt with quiz in the churchyard and a mini-beast hunt. The adults enjoyed a raffle!

Although the weather was dry, it was cool and a bit windy so being inside was very welcome. However, some intrepid explorers braved the wind to take in the views from the tower.

All in all, a good time was had and it was a celebration to remember.
